Abbot’s Cellar is a farm-to-table restaurant at the forefront of the beer pairing movement. Housed in a historic base building, Abbot’s intends to showcase the rustic character of the original space, while providing an elegant environment for patrons to taste a world-class beer collection that honors age-old brewing traditions originated in monasteries centuries ago.Formerly a garage, the space boasts 24’ wood ceilings and a large wall built from bricks reclaimed after the 1906 earthquake. To create a seamless transition between old and new, material choices for the build-out were reclaimed or recycled whenever possible, including: reclaimed barn wood, recycled denim insulation, high-recycled content steel, and recycled beer bottles as aggregate in the cast-concrete sink basin.
