The Bicycle Outpost is a multidisciplinary design-build project that aims to provide most of the amenities cyclists may need to fix a flat, tighten brakes, and make adjustments, so a rider can safely make it to their destination. It was designed/constructed by Parsons students, who employed a system of CNC milled plywood. This layered system has the potential to be fabricated from other materials and to test various configurations. The design is easily assembled and is mobile, so it can easily be moved to multiple locations. This prototype has become a beacon for cyclist in the Greenwich neighborhood and will hopefully start a larger initiative to populate areas and neighborhoods with simple, yet effective infrastructure for cyclists.
