This second skin needed to be modulated to meet structural needs, frames, in addition to making the best use of aluminum sheets. It was hard work until we came up with a cabalistic number. And so all the elements of the 4 facades of the building are multiples of 57. The sheets received random perforation in order to allow greater or lesser incidence of light inside the units. They are screwed onto a secondary metal structure that maintains a distance of 15 to 60 cm from the main structure, reflecting a curious play of light and shadow and providing excellent thermal comfort.

This distance between the skin and the structure allowed the descent of hydraulic plumbing and the location of technical platforms where the air conditioning machines of residents who want lower temperatures will be located. These elements could have been completely hidden, but we decided to allow a perfect understanding of their existence. The cast-in-place concrete structure also rises inclined parallel to this second skin. At some points it is purposely exposed on the façade. Inside, the building functions as two juxtaposed buildings, with independent elevators and stairs.

It is a variation between studios and lofts that will alternate according to the scale of the building. These units are approximately 45 m² in size and to expand this space, we designed large openings that, in addition to lighting and ventilation, also provide views of the city. These openings were enhanced on the façade through frames that reinforce its dimensions. From the beginning, we had a premise to connect the building with the street in order to avoid blind spots with the sidewalk and damage to the safety of pedestrians walking in the city.

The building and its skin were to fly over the front yard and land punctually and majestically on the ground. And then we came up with the idea of ​​using the V-pillar. The units are open, without divisions, in order to allow greater flexibility in their use, whether as a home or an office. CasaMirador Savassi has 9 floors and 3 basements. It is located in a neighborhood with low elevation, which emphasizes its slender proportions and long profile, providing pedestrians with a perfect understanding of its volume.
