Sustainability remains at the project’s core, with CODE achieving a 73% reduction in energy use intensity (EUI) compared to the benchmark for similar buildings of the same type. The building envelope uses a modern rainscreen system, providing high thermal performance and water resistance while referencing the area’s historic brick and window patterns. The stepped massing integrates the structure into the surrounding urban fabric, creating terraces and green roofs that reduce heat island effects and offer panoramic views.

Rainwater management plays a central role in CODE’s environmental strategy. Occupied green roofs absorb and retain rainwater, slowly releasing it into underground cisterns for reuse during droughts. Simulations evaluated the impact of the building’s form on energy consumption and tree canopy shadows, ensuring a design that respects the environment. The interior prioritizes health and well-being with low-emission materials and a ventilation system delivering twice the standard fresh air flow. Natural daylight and views are thoughtfully integrated, enhancing productivity and cognitive function for tenants and visitors.

Public spaces encourage interaction and community engagement, while the vibrant programming of the building—including pop-up retail, networking events, and cultural activities—establishes CODE as a hub for entrepreneurship, collaboration, and innovation.
