The designs add three buildings to the school?s estate, improving the Sports, Performing Arts and Sixth-Form facilities whilst remaining sensitive to, and building upon, its rich architectural and educational heritage. Set within a conservation area, the scale of new buildings for the sports hall, sixth-form centre and new performing arts facilities have been designed to remain sensitive to the adjacent listed buildings on campus. These additions take the shape of a simple series of pitched forms that echo the structure of the Founders? Hall to the North, whilst framing views of Channing School?s stepped landscape to the northeast.

The new sixth-form centre provides a range of teaching spaces that offer ?open-plan? university style learning, all naturally ventilated with views onto the schools green landscaping and external amphitheatre. The performing arts building, which be completed end of next year will provide a 300 capacity semi-professional theatre with retractable seating, underpinning the school?s excellence in music.
