This has led to sophisticated architectural solutions, a striking architectural design and an above average sustainability with a GPR score of 8 and an EPC value of 15% below the legal requirement. At each distance from the building and at any speed with which the building is approached, the building reveals a new look. From the motorway, the monolithic volume with the recognizable shape of the roof is visible.
From the access road the sculptural contours of the building are clearly visible. In passing the long facade the vertical rhythm of the brick dominates. Frontal, the apparent impregnable fortress a transparent and inviting building. Inside this route is pursued. A central open space cuts through the building from bottom to top. On each floor is another void through which the diagonal lines of sight becoming another look at the interior of the building. A continuous wooden staircase connects all floors.
With an alternating rhythm is way through the open space of the atrium to the Top floor. From the roof deck you can look back on the whole route. But most are rewarded with a glimpse of the overwhelming vast Dutch landscape.The House of Volker Wessels is a good example of supply chain integration. The efficient construction team with the firm client, inventive designer and skilled builders has resulted in a smart and powerful design. The spatial interventions make the office even inside feel like a house that facilitates meeting and encourages knowledge.
