Firstly, existing structure is preserved as the way it is. Then, all wooden walls are removed to be repaired, polished, and repainted as well as window frames that are kept yet adding glass as a new layer to let the natural light in and be able to use air-conditioned system. For space management, the bigger wooden building consists of a four-bedded and six-bedded women dormitory on ground floor and 2 three-bedded, 1 four-bedded and 1 six-bedded men dormitory on second floor. The smaller one locates 2 private rooms on ground floor and 3 private rooms on upper level.

With limited space, IF proposes the additional double height building defined by black steel structure acting as a welcoming / recreation / dining area and transitional space leading guests to the upper level. On the upper level of this space, there is big net floor for guests to sit and enjoy themselves relaxingly. Double height space is connected to inner court which provide refreshing and greenery space for guests while being used as common area. The integration of loft-like steel structure with these 2 existing wooden buildings which act as hint of the past and the present give KLOEM HOSTEL the right atmosphere and introducing Bangkok to visiting guests like the “good old folks” of the neighborhood would.
