Given its size (about 10'x10'), the team needed to figure that out early on in the design process. Additionally, the channel glass was chosen to provide transparency, while also offering light into the spaces. Given the proximity to the road and the adjacent site to the south, privacy was a concern, so the team was tasked with incorporating a barrier solution that allowed for light during the day, and something that still glowed during the night from the exterior – without feeling like a formal wall.

The interior design team’s biggest consideration was being sensitive to the fact that their clients were moving out of the house where they’d raised their children, who are now grown with children of their own. The clients’ most important request was that each child weighed in on elements that would make this new house a home, and they took that to heart throughout the entire process: This design was as much for the children and grandchildren as it was for the clients. It’s livable, comfortable, and fun.

Besides that, everything was completely designed to make the most of the lake view, which is spectacular.
