Living Places Copenhagen is an experimental living environment located in Jernbanebyen, the Danish capital’s old rail district. It was developed by VELUX in partnership with EFFEKT Architects and Artelia and features seven prototypes—five open pavilions and two completed homes. The first home ‘Hygge House’ is made of timber frame with natural ventilation and wood/wood windows, and the second home ‘Haven House’ is made of cross-laminated timber with hybrid ventilation and wood/aluminium windows. Living Places Copenhagen is the first manifestation of Living Places, a concept that responds to the global need for healthy, resilient buildings and demonstrates how it is already possible to build homes with a low-carbon footprint and a first-class indoor climate.
