Sacred Heart University (SHU), with the help of JLG Architects, constructed a new world-class collegiate ice arena to be a permanent home for the University’s men’s and women’s hockey, figure skating, and club teams. The new 3,600-seat ice arena is located on the former GE World Headquarters acquired by Sacred Heart in 2015. The design elevates the experience from every point of view — starting with the grand entry plaza. Fans are immersed in a gameday atmosphere unlike any other, including interactive displays, custom lighting, and a continuous seating bowl with a 180-degree view overlooking Merritt Parkway — all through a state-of-the-art smart-glass wall system.
