The Museum of Uncertainty, a conceptual proposal situated in the historical Tar Pits in Los Angeles, delves into the uncertainty concealed beneath the thick tar. This project seeks to highlight the profound historical significance of the Tar Pits and its underlying theme of excavation, discovery, and preservation. Our design concept revolves around these elements, aiming to encapsulate the captivating uncertainty of the Tar Pits. Comprising three distinct structures, the project offers visitors a multifaceted experience.
Commencing at Wilshire Boulevard, guests embark on a journey that simulates submersion beneath the tar before arriving at the museum's central gathering area. Within the building, they encounter a fascinating exhibition featuring fossils from both storage and the hallway. The research building interconnects various excavation sites, creating a labyrinthine circulation, where visitors witness the excavation process on the ground level. In the institution building, visitors can attend lectures while gazing across the expansive excavation sites.
