It houses a 1,600-seat opera hall, a 450-seat multipurpose hall, and a cultural centre in separate functional components linked by a central passage. This light-filled corridor connects Jiulong Lake Park with future commercial districts while hosting cafés, events, and exhibitions, creating a lively, accessible atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional Chinese village street. A ‘veil’ of China White ceramic rods envelops the building, inspired by the local translucent rice porcelain. This intricate, double-curved facade, supported by steel cables, provides sun shading while revealing glimpses of the interior, which features terracotta and bamboo finishes.

The foyers and performance spaces use fireproof, stained bamboo cladding, complemented by natural stone and stran d-woven bamboo flooring. At the heart of the theatre is the opera hall. Its organically undulating, acoustically optimised surfaces are clad in dark-stained bamboo, echoing the waves of Jiulong Lake and evoking a finely crafted instrument. The multipurpose hall, with adjustable seating and flexible lighting, features lighter bamboo finishes. The ceramic facade reduces cooling costs, while solar panels and rainwater systems enhance resource efficiency.

The theatre integrates with its surroundings, combining cultural, commercial, and green spaces, ensuring its role as a sustainable and enduring cultural landmark.
