Nestled in the heart of Napa Valley wine country, this guest house serves as a perfect entertainment space on the client’s existing property. The couple, with three young children, wanted to create a separate space on their property for entertaining and worked with NICOLEHOLLIS to achieve a sophisticated and modern pavilion. NICOLEHOLLIS collaborated with Arcanum Architecture in the design and selection of all materials, fixtures, and finishes. The result is a bold yet organic material palette featuring Shou Sugi ban wood siding and dark integral plaster.
To coordinate with the Shou Sugi Ban siding and plaster finishes, NICOLEHOLLIS sourced Castilia black Marble from Da Vinci Marble for the fully integrated kitchenette which can be completed covered and hidden with a triple folded door system. The furniture followed the same direction with emphasis on organic shapes and materiality to contrast the clean lines of the architecture. A custom pendant fixture composed of opaque grey and natural cotton cording by Doug Johnston hangs above the seating area adding a sculptural lighting element to the space and anchoring the main living space.
NICOLEHOLLIS created a juxtaposition of old with the new featuring a pair of vintage Hans Wegner Oak East Chairs circa 1952 next to a coffee table by Arno Declercq with a charred oak base and a limestone slab table top. Expansive vineyard views serve as a backdrop to the outdoor spaces which feature molded lounge chairs by Patrick Naggar at a low firepit seating area perfect for entertaining guests. This wonderful guest house serves as a sophisticated and relaxed oasis, welcoming the client's friends and family to enjoy Napa Valley surrounded by beauty and comfort.
