Parq Vancouver by ACDF reinterprets Vancouver’s breathtaking landscape with a dynamic composition. It is an urban oasis that invites visitors to experience a multitude of atmospheres. Located in Downtown Vancouver, Parq Vancouver is part of BC Place’s stadium and neighbouring lot. The mixed-use complex is at the center of an emerging entertainment node in the city. Its carefully fragmented massing houses two luxury hotels, eight restaurants, commercial space, a casino, fitness centre and spa. A simple, carved shape embraces the site’s footprint and was chosen to complement the architecture of the stadium.
Parq Vancouver is a visual landmark and also a transition point between the stadium and the surrounding, smaller buildings. Vancouver’s cliffs, gorges and valleys are reflected in the tower’s fluid form and eye-catching layers. A warm earth-toned metallic curtain wall shimmers and adorns the lower façade. Metallic louvers capture the changing light and evoke the shimmering Pacific Ocean. Slopes converge towards a lush green space on the sixth floor, where the calming atmosphere of an alpine environment surrounds visitors.
This elevated outdoor garden provides much-needed green space and introduces sustainability to the urban project. With its synergy of different programs and components, PARQ offers an environment where a wide variety of activities and atmospheres coexist. Oversized windows on the ground level entice passersby, while the outdoor spaces increase pedestrian flow and provide a precious link to an existing bicycle path network.
