SOCIAL HOUSING and PIXEL-FARMING: Appointed by Mayor Renzo Macelloni, Maria Alessandra Segantini, Partner and Creative Director of C+S Architects is tackling depopulation by combining social housing with regenerative agriculture. The project reimagines rural living through a model of micro-farms and pixel-farming—small, diverse plots ensuring high-yield, sustainable food. At the urban scale, circular woods, irrigation basins, and restored rural buildings shape a productive, biodiverse landscape. Architecturally, twelve raw-earth social homes reinterpret Tuscan farmhouses using innovative, low-carbon materials like 3D printing, wood, and oxidized zinc.
