The centerpiece of the plan is a reimagined LGA complex in the Bronx and Queens. Through this design, the new airport would have global destinations, fewer delays and fully-integrated rail connectivity (Amtrak, MetroNorth, NJT, LIRR). Also included is an adjoining convention center twice as large as the Javits Center.

Subway service to the new LGA is possible via a crosstown 125th Street A line extension, and Second Avenue Subway extension. This connection to the Dyre Avenue Branch greatly reduces overcrowding on the 2/5 lines by redistributing riders to the A/Q/T lines.

ReThinkNYC envisions a commercial district in Queens, supported by a new station and a 300 acre park on the site of the existing Sunnyside rail yards. The station would access every major line in the area, allowing new connections to suburbs and the surrounding region - making it an ideal location for expanded commercial offices in NYC.

The plan links MetroNorth's Harlem and Hudson lines to the Northeast Corridor, via new connecting track in the Bronx. This unification allows access to LGA Rail Station, Penn Station and Sunnyside Station in Queens. Additional unification involves extending all NJT and Amtrak trains to Sunnyside and LGA Bronx, and the NJT Trenton Line to New Haven.

This plan provides the New York City and the region with a new foundation for future, more sustainable growth.
