In 2011, the former College of Creative Arts – of which the Broadcast and Electronic Communication Arts (BECA), Music, and Theatre and Dance were a part – merged with the former College of Humanities to become the Marcus Hall. The Creative Arts Building (CAB) was replaced in four phases, and the complex of four buildings are located on two adjacent sites. SFSU retained Mark Cavagnero Associates to conduct a Site and Program Confirmation Study prior to beginning Schematic Design. The Marcus Hall, Phase 1 occupies a portion of the Tapia Triangle site along with Phase 2 project as the new Center for Arts and Media (CAM).
