Secular Retreat

Secular Retreat is a new home for Living Architecture by Peter Zumthor, and Mole as executive architects. These photos and accompanying film by Jim Stephenson, commissioned by The Architects Journal, explore the effect the house has on the visitor's senses and the role architecture plays as a form of shelter. As the weather rolls in across the hills in Devon, and the fog and darkness obscure the views of the countryside, the building cocoons us.
