The sustainable design of SOPREMA’s state-of-the-art facilities for waterproofing materials is one of the few industrial projects in Canada to have obtained a LEED v4 certification. With a 12% reduction in global warming potential, its green building leadership demonstrates how an industrial vocation doesn’t need to be at odds with the environment, or with having a striking design. Built from recycled steel and local materials, the plant’s integrated alternative energies are coupled with biophilic features such as sunlit floor-to-ceiling windows opening to green vistas from its offices to heat recovery systems for its production processes.
