The Z-shaped laboratory building and the R&D office area are arranged to enclose one another, forming a distinctive and iconic urban frontage at the intersection of major roads. The façade incorporates functional ventilation and natural light solutions; white vertical elements not only provide effective shading, but also simplify the complexity of the façade due to differences in internal bio-engineering processes. The design incorporates pipeline corridors and amenities to seamlessly integrate the landscape with the public spaces.

The final result is a harmonious blend of industrial, technological and human elements, with a rich spatial hierarchy that creates an enduring image for the cutting-edge R&D campus. The design consistently places people at its core. From the central green “campus living room” and connecting bridge platforms to the seafront-facing landscape plaza, every element fosters a network of well-scaled, open, and transparent shared spaces. Here, architecture transcends its role as a mere container, becoming a catalyst for serendipity, collaboration, and inspiration.

The result is a research community centered on the flow of people and knowledge, shaping a future paradigm where technology, nature, and the city coexist in harmony. Beyond architectural expression, the design is more committed to long-term social responsibility and sustainable value. Considering the influence of sea breeze on the façade material and wind pressure, this project adopts the traditional RC structure, using aluminum plate as the main façade cladding material, reducing the load-bearing of the façade, using standardized nodes, reducing the cost and construction difficulty, and carrying out detailed treatment in the roof eaves, window eaves and vertical component profile to achieve the exquisite scientific research feeling of self-clearing of the façade and echoing the light and shadow.

Standardized building components and details are used to reduce the complexity and high cost associated with individual customization. This approach helps to simplify the construction processes and improves the long-term maintenance of the building and minimizes remodeling due to changes in bio-engineering processes, helping extend the service life of the building and minimize waste of resources. We believe that a truly impactful research facility should not merely serve the industry itself, but act as a spatial vessel for ongoing dialogue between people and knowledge, nature and the city.
